Kart racing is more than just a sport, it’s a way of life. For some, the love of speed and competition comes naturally. For others, it’s sparked by a single moment that sets the course for an incredible journey. One such racer’s story is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the unbreakable bond of family.

A Passion Ignited by Family

For Jordan, the journey began in the most organic way possible watching a sibling race. “Growing up, my brother started outdoor karting after showing interest in go-karts at the mall. Every week, I would go to the track and watch him. When I was six, I decided to try it too—I was already there every week, so why not give it a shot?”

It wasn’t an instant love affair. Developing skill and passion took time, but as the laps added up, so did the determination. “Once my family started traveling for racing, that’s when I truly developed as a driver and became competitive.”

Finding Focus on Race Day

Mental preparation is key in a sport where fractions of a second make all the difference. “On race day mornings, I always have my AirPods in. I don’t have a specific song that I always listen to—I go with whatever I’m in the mood for. Nutrition is also super important to me because I want my body to perform at its best.”

Overcoming Challenges on the Road to Success

Stepping into the world of national-level karting was a reality check. “Once we started traveling for races, the competition was tougher than we imagined. It took years of effort to become a top contender. There were tough weekends, but my brother and I always wanted to keep pushing. The closer you get to the top, the harder it is to compete, but we kept showing up—even when we had bad weekends.”

The challenges don’t stop with competition. “Racing in the rain is something I’m still working on. It’s a whole different challenge that I haven’t totally overcome yet.”

Handling Pressure Like a Pro

Racing at the highest level means pressure is a constant companion. “I have high expectations for myself, but I think that pushes me to be even better. Once I’m on track, the pressure disappears—I just focus on what’s in front of me.”

Lessons Learned Through Experience

Rather than pointing to a single defining moment, Jordan believes in the power of accumulated experience. “Every weekend, every practice, every crash, every race has been part of my journey. It’s made me persistent, motivated, and determined. After every tough race, I get back on track and try to improve, even when it feels like I can’t do better. That drive keeps me motivated because I know I’m capable of more.”

Cherished Memories on the Track

Karting has created unforgettable moments, but none compared to the battles against a familiar opponent—an older brother. “Growing up, my brother and I were always in the race to watch. We were so competitive, and it was always close. Those local races were all about family time. My grandpa would come to the track every single weekend for nine years. When we started traveling more, it was harder for him to watch, but he always wanted to hear about the races when we got home.”

The Thrill of Kart Racing

So, what keeps Jordan coming back? “Kart racing is incredibly competitive, and I thrive on that. The difference between first and tenth can be just tenths of a second—it’s unreal. But beyond the racing, it’s the relationships at the track that mean so much. People in karting are a different breed—everyone cares for each other and is willing to help. That’s something special.”

Bouncing Back from Setbacks

Even the best racers have rough weekends. “After a bad race, the long drive home is important. The first few hours are spent analyzing what went wrong, what we should’ve done differently. But after three or four hours, we’re already looking ahead to the next race. The ups and downs are part of racing, but we love it too much to ever give up.”

Advice for Aspiring Racers

For young drivers just starting out, the message is simple: “Patience, focus, and hard work are key. Good things take time, and karting requires perseverance. The learning curve is huge, but if you take every experience as a lesson, you’ll keep improving.”

Looking to the Future

With a rookie season in the senior classes ahead, the goal is clear. “I hope to be as competitive as I ended my junior career.”

Racing Heroes and Inspirations

Early on, Danica Patrick was the inspiration. “She was racing in NASCAR at the time, and I knew she started in karting. Watching her made me believe I could do it too.” As time passed, another driver took center stage: “Kyle Larson inspires me now because he’s talented in everything he races, whether it’s NASCAR, dirt track, or anything else.”

Life Beyond the Track

While karting is life, Jordan has plenty of hobbies outside the track. “I love skiing, riding snowmobiles, and four-wheelers. I also enjoy going to the gym and hanging out with friends. I even did eight years of competitive dance—one time, a race mom caught me tap dancing on the grid before a race!”
